Could this tight end prospect be the next Jahleel Billingsley?

Despite a slow start to the season, Alabama tight end Jahleel Billingsley has looked really good the last couple of weeks. Now in his third season, might he make the jump to the NFL after the season? It seems Nick Saban is taking no chances.

On Friday, Alabama received a commitment from the nation’s top ranked tight end Jaleel Skinner. The high 4-star plays for IMG but hails from Greer, South Carolina. Much like Billingsley, he plays the position as a flex TE/WR hybrid mismatch who can split out wide. At 6’5”/210 with an 80 inch wingspan, Skinner is about the same size Billingsley was as a recruit. Hudl says he has run a 4.44 in the 40 which is the same number Kyle Pitts ran at his Pro Day last spring. At 34 inches, his vertical leap was half an inch more than Pitts.

Not to get too Gumpy and lay too much expectations on this kid, but dang does he look good. Fast, strong, long and lean. He will need to put on some weight and polish his blocking skills but he has great potential. Granted the South Carolina high school competition in this video is not on his level but you can still see the possibilities.

The nation’s #74 prospect joins TE Elijah Brown and TE/WR Amari Niblack in the 2022 class.

Skinner had been flirting with the idea of signing with FSU but their season implosion has quashed those thoughts. Nearby Clemson looked like a leader 12 months ago. Also considered were Florida, Texas, and Miami who he officially visited in June. Charles Kelly gets another win for this pledge.
