Tuscaloosa Regional: Gymnastics to host archrival Georgia and get a rematch versus Michigan

Lookie here, three rematches.

The 2018 NCAA Gymnastics Championship regionals have been set. Alabama, fresh off a runner-up finish in the SEC Championships, is a host site in Tuscaloosa. And, to be candid, the Tide has a solid draw, but should be one of the easier ones in the country — Alabama’s expectation should be to win its home event, not merely qualify for Nationals.

Among the star power coming to Tuscaloosa is the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines. The 6th-ranked Tide opened its season with a road trip to Ann Arbor and had an anemic loss in January. However, this is a different Alabama squad and should be able to take a rematch. Archrival Georgia (No. 16) also comes to town, and will likely travel in droves. Others include an up-and-coming Missouri squad (No. 22) and Illinois (No. 23). Central Michigan (NR) rounds out the field.

We’ll break down the field next week as the regional draws closer. In the meanwhile, go get your tickets. Seriously, the Crimson Tide needs a favorable home crowd in a sport where scores are so easily influenced by audience participation.

Tickets for the April 7th regional are $14 for adults, $10 youth (18 and under). Group rates are available ($5 per head if you have 15-or-more people.) Click the link above or call 1-205-348-BAMA / 1-877-TIDETIX

We’ll see you there. Roll Tide.
